Art Deco is a style of design that originated in France in the 1920s. We sought inspiration from this style of design for the reception ceremony of the Prakash Silks family wedding, that took place in Kanchipuram. The guests had to take a flight of stairs that was adorned with a floral wall in the landing area in order to reach the lounge area.
Hand painted in hues of teal, our vision was to turn this lounge area to a photogenic space, where the guests spent an ample amount of time appreciating the finer details of decor and clicking pictures. A multi-colour geometric tiled flooring brought in the colour factor, thereby ensuring that there was no design monotony. Vintage props like barrels, typewriter and stereo player alongside refurbished furniture made this space the talk of the wedding. Exotic flowers including snapdragons, wild berries, delphinium, protea, blue thistle and dark purple allium bullet, were used to deck up this space.
The pathway that connected the lounge area to the reception ceremony area had an overhead explosion of greens alongside patterned box lights. The seating in this area was made up of acrylic ghost chairs, while the couple sitting on the stage was custom-made in the Victorian style. Art Deco style arches that contained thousands of ombre shade roses flowed across this area, as a designer canvas painted the sidewalls.
With a sleek, stylized and geometric ornamentation, this design was Vivahhika’s interpretation of the Art Deco movement!
